TREE PROJECT – Training and Resources to Enable a Green Era

Tree training and resources to enable a green era A Erasmus+ project for a sustainable future 2023-1-IT01-KA210 WEEK-000155836 Introduction Welcome to the first edition of the Tree project newsletter (Training and Resources to Enable a Green Era), An initiative financed by the Erasmus+ KA210-VET program. Tree was born from the growing need to train professionals able to face the challenges of the ecological transition, providing them with adequate skills to operate in a labor market increasingly oriented to sustainability. The project is carried out thanks to the collaboration of three European countries Italy, Greece and Spain. Tree aims to develop innovative methodologies and tools to support professionals and training institutions in creating educational paths aligned with the new needs of the world of work. The objectives and priority of the project The transition to a more sustainable and respectful economy of the environment is one of the fundamental priorities of the European Union. The European Green Deal establishes ambitious objectives, including climatic neutrality by 2050, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the adoption of more sustainable production models. However, so that these objectives become reality, It is necessary that the world of work and training quickly adapt to the new challenges, developing adequate skills for the ecological transition. The Tree project wants to fill the gap between the current skills and those requested by the green labor market, offering innovative tools to train a new generation of professionals with a strong environmental awareness. This change is crucial not only for those looking for work, but also for those who are already busy and need to update themselves to remain competitive in the world of work. The main objectives of the Tree project include• Develop an innovative training program focused on green skills, which will help trainees of education and professional training (IFP), workers and unemployed to acquire new skills for the sustainable labor market. • Create a kit of interactive tools based on situational scenarios, who will simulate real cases to provide a practical and concrete experience, helping participants to understand and apply the concepts of sustainability in their daily and work activities.• Identify and spread good practices through in -depth research in partner countries, which will analyze how green skills are integrated into existing training programs and which strategies are more effective for learning and job placement.• Promote environmental awareness and encourage a behavioral change between students, workers and companies, facilitating the adoption of more sustainable practices both on an individual and organizational level. The Tree project is perfectly part of the ambient priority and the fight against the climate change of Erasmus+, helping to create a more flexible and future -oriented professional education and professional training system. The acquisition of green skills will no longer be an option, but an essential element for any professional career, regardless of the sector of belonging.Tree aims to make the skills for sustainability accessible to everyone, so that the ecological transition is a concrete opportunity for economic and social growth, and not an obstacle to professional development. Expected activities and results To achieve its ambitious objectives, Tree is structured in a series of key activities that develop during the entire project • workshops and research in the three partner countries to analyze the current state of green skills in professional training centers and identify the best practices already in use. • Development and implementation of a specific training program for the ecological transition, with innovative didactic content and interactive digital materials. • Organization of multiplier events in Italy, Greece and Spain to spread the results and encourage collaboration between Stakeholders, Companies and educational institutions. • creation of a good practices manual, which will collect effective strategies to integrate green skills in professional training and in the world of work. The goal is not only to provide tools and knowledge, but also stimulate a sustainable mentality, essential to face global environmental challenges. Who are the partners of the project Tree is created thanks to the collaboration of three European organizations with experience in the sector of training and sustainable development ADIM Srl (Italia) – Project coordinator, Responsible for the overall management, of the dissemination of the results and the creation of the training program. Zeus Ike advice (Greece) – specialized in innovative training methodologies and in the design of situational scenarios for interactive learning. “Tree – Training and Resources to Enable a Green Era” Monitoring Meeting, 08.11.24.

The Erasmus+ Project “Tree – Training and Resources to Enable a Green Era” is progressing towards the final stage of development and distribution of its training materials. During the monitoring meeting held on November 8, 2024, project partners discussed their progress, with particular focus on preparing multiplier events and finalizing the educational content. Partners are getting ready to present the training course and the Best Practices Handbook, and the next steps were outlined for completing the materials required for reporting and launching the training course. Erasmus+ Project “Tree” Monitoring Meeting (08/11/2024): Progress and Next Steps On November 8, 2024, a monitoring meeting was held with the partners of the Erasmus+ project “Tree – Training and Resources to Enable a Green Era.” During the meeting, the progress made on the development of training materials, the preparation of multiplier events, and upcoming deadlines were discussed, with the aim of ensuring all activities are completed on time and according to the agreed standards. 1. Best Practices Handbook: Updates and Integration A central topic of the meeting was the Best Practices Handbook, a key deliverable for the project. The review of the handbook, particularly the integration of content from the AiNP partner, was discussed. This integration is considered crucial, as the handbook is intended to be one of the main outputs to be presented during the upcoming multiplier events scheduled for the end of November. 2. TREE Training Course: Progress on Educational Materials Another important point was the TREE Training Course. The meeting provided an update on the progress of drafting the training modules, an activity that involves all partners. AdIM has already completed drafting its modules and is now working on creating an improved version using artificial intelligence. Each module includes an assessment test with 5 questions, each worth 2 points. All partners are invited to test the modules, complete the corresponding tests, and send them to AdIM for final review. Zeus has nearly completed its module drafts and expects to finish the work by the end of next week. The project content will be implemented using tools such as Canva and Twine. All partners are encouraged to visit the AdIM platform to align with the materials already produced and to upload their own modules. It is important that each module is available both in English and in the native language of each partner to facilitate translation and accessibility for an international audience. 3. Organizing the Multiplier Events One of the most significant aspects discussed during the meeting was the organization of the multiplier events. Each partner is responsible for organizing an in-person event by the end of November. The events are aimed at disseminating the project’s results by presenting the Best Practices Handbook and the TREE Training Course, as well as engaging participants in practical activities. Objectives of the Multiplier Events: Each partner is required to follow a similar format for all events, with a standardized agenda that includes a brief introduction to the project, the presentation of the training course, and demonstration activities. Additionally, a set of documents must be collected for reporting purposes, including the event agenda, a consent form for image release, the presentations, and the evaluation questionnaire. Required Documents: All materials used during the events must be uploaded to the Google Drive folders created for each partner. 4. Next Steps and Updates In December, a follow-up meeting will be held to review the results of the multiplier events and make further progress on the training course. Specifically, the tasks related to scenario situations will be defined, an activity that must be completed by January and implemented by Zeus by February. Additionally, each partner is required to submit a detailed progress report to AdIM, including all information and materials related to the activities carried out so far. This report will be used to update the project documentation and ensure that all activities are properly archived. In conclusion, the monitoring meeting provided a clear overview of the progress made so far and the next steps to be taken. As the multiplier events approach, partners are preparing to disseminate the project’s results and engage a wider audience in learning and using the developed training resources.

The EU AI Act: A Step Forward, But Can It Keep Up With the Pace of AI?

The European Union’s AI Act, which officially came into force in August 2024, marks a crucial step in regulating artificial intelligence. With its risk-based approach, the regulation is designed to ensure that AI systems are used ethically and responsibly. It categorizes AI into levels of risk—from low-risk applications, like chatbots, to high-risk systems in healthcare, recruitment, and beyond. .However, the question remains: can this ambitious regulatory framework keep pace with the rapid technological advancements in AI? As AI technologies like deep learning, large language models, and general-purpose AI continue to evolve, even academic researchers find it difficult to track the latest developments . With AI systems capable of self-improvement and the emergence of increasingly sophisticated models, ensuring that regulations remain relevant and enforceable will be a complex challenge. For the AI Act to be truly effective, a dynamic approach to regulation will be required. This may involve real-time monitoring, adaptive compliance measures, and regular updates to the framework to reflect ongoing innovations. Collaboration between the public sector, private companies, and the academic community will also be essential to bridge the gap between regulation and the cutting-edge advancements in AI At Zeus Consulting, we are closely following these developments and are ready to help organizations navigate this evolving regulatory landscape. Whether through AI ethics consulting or impact assessments, we ensure that your AI systems not only comply with EU regulations but also align with ethical standards that support long-term success. Interested in learning more about how the AI Act could affect your business? Contact us today to discuss how we can assist in aligning your AI strategy with the latest regulatory requirements.
