AI Governance & Compliance
Responsible AI Advisory & EU AI Act Compliance
The EU AI Act is now in full effect for high-risk AI systems. Zeus Consulting provides strategic AI governance advisory, risk classification, conformity assessments, and responsible AI implementation support for organisations across Europe.
EU AI Act
The world's first binding AI regulation is now law
Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 — the EU Artificial Intelligence Act — entered into force on 1 August 2024 and is being phased in progressively. High-risk AI systems face the strictest obligations, including conformity assessments, technical documentation, human oversight mechanisms, and registration in the EU AI database.
Organisations that develop, deploy, or import AI systems must determine their obligations now — not after a non-compliance finding. Zeus Consulting provides structured advisory to navigate this regulatory landscape, whether you are a public authority deploying an AI hiring system, a hospital using AI diagnostic tools, or an SME building a customer-facing AI product.
- Prohibited AI practices: banned from February 2025
- GPAI model obligations: applicable from August 2025
- High-risk AI system requirements: applicable from August 2026
- Penalties: up to €35M or 7% of global annual turnover
EU AI Act Risk Classification
Unacceptable Risk
Social scoring by public authorities, real-time biometric surveillance in public spaces
Prohibited under EU AI Act — cannot be placed on market
High Risk
AI in critical infrastructure, education, employment, law enforcement, biometric categorisation
Conformity assessment, technical documentation, human oversight, registration in EU database
Limited Risk
Chatbots, emotion recognition systems, deep fakes
Transparency obligations — users must be informed they are interacting with AI
Minimal Risk
AI-enabled spam filters, recommendation engines, video games
No mandatory requirements — voluntary codes of conduct recommended
What We Do
Our Responsible AI Advisory Services
EU AI Act Compliance Advisory
End-to-end compliance support: AI system risk classification, conformity assessment, technical documentation, post-market monitoring plans, and registration in the EU AI database. We work with both providers and deployers.
Ethical AI Assessment
Systematic evaluation of AI systems against ethical principles — fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy, and human oversight. We develop governance frameworks and internal audit processes aligned with European values.
AI Risk Classification
We map your AI systems against the EU AI Act risk pyramid to determine obligations. For high-risk systems, we advise on the full compliance pathway including technical documentation and notified body assessment where required.
AI Governance Frameworks
Design and implementation of internal AI governance structures: AI ethics boards, acceptable use policies, bias monitoring protocols, model explainability requirements, and human oversight mechanisms.
Responsible AI Implementation
Hands-on support for deploying AI systems responsibly — from data governance and model transparency to bias mitigation, explainability, and stakeholder communication across the organisation.
GDPR & AI Act Intersection
Many AI systems process personal data, creating overlapping obligations under GDPR and the EU AI Act. We advise on the interaction between both frameworks and develop integrated compliance strategies.
AI & Blockchain Architectures
Zeus Consulting also advises on the technical architecture of AI-blockchain hybrid systems — integrating decentralised ledger technology to create auditable, tamper-proof records of AI decision-making. This is particularly relevant for high-risk AI systems where the EU AI Act requires traceability and audit trails.
Blockchain-based audit logs for AI decisions can serve as a compliance tool, enabling organisations to demonstrate the required record-keeping and human oversight obligations under the EU AI Act — particularly for automated decision-making in employment, credit, and public benefit allocation.
- Blockchain audit trails for AI decision traceability
- Decentralised data governance architectures
- Smart contracts for AI system access controls
- Hybrid AI-blockchain proposals for Horizon Europe & Digital Europe
